The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) is Ontario’s provincial immigration program. It allows Ontario to nominate skilled workers, international graduates, and other eligible candidates for Canadian permanent residence, provided they intend to live and work in the province.
For candidates in the federal Express Entry pool, an Ontario nomination typically adds 600 points to your Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, which greatly improves your chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence.
| Stream | Who it is for | Scoring with this tool |
|---|---|---|
| Human Capital Priorities | Express Entry candidates Ontario selects from the federal pool (degree, language, work experience, CRS typically 400+) | Eligibility checklist |
| Employer Job Offer — Foreign Worker | Skilled workers with a full-time Ontario job offer (NOC TEER 0–3) | EOI points |
| Employer Job Offer — International Student | Graduates with an Ontario employer job offer; education and language factors apply | EOI points |
| Employer Job Offer — In-Demand Skills | Workers in targeted in-demand occupations | EOI points |
| Masters / PhD Graduate | Ontario post-secondary graduates; no job offer when the stream is open | EOI points |
For streams that use an Expression of Interest, Ontario assigns points based on official factors published on Ontario.ca (updated September 2025), including:
A higher EOI score improves your ranking in the selection pool but does not guarantee an invitation. Ontario sets minimum scores per draw when streams are open.
Your CRS score is calculated by the federal government for Express Entry draws nationwide. Your OINP EOI score is Ontario’s separate points system for provincial streams. They use different criteria. Many applicants strengthen their CRS profile first, then pursue an Ontario nomination for the 600-point boost.
