The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) Skills Immigration stream is one of Canada’s most popular immigration pathways, particularly for skilled workers in technology, healthcare, and trades.

What is BC PNP Skills Immigration?

BC PNP Skills Immigration allows skilled workers and international graduates to apply for a provincial nomination to become Canadian permanent residents. BC uses a point-based registration system called the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS) to score and invite candidates.

Who Can Apply?

To be eligible for BC PNP Skills Immigration, you generally need:

  • A full-time, permanent job offer from a BC employer in an eligible occupation
  • Relevant work experience or educational qualifications
  • A minimum wage that meets BC’s thresholds for your occupation
  • Sufficient language ability (CLB 4+ for most streams, CLB 7+ for tech)

BC PNP Skills Immigration Sub-Streams

There are four main sub-streams:

  • Skilled Worker: For workers in skilled occupations (NOC TEER 0–3)
  • Health Authority: For workers directly employed by BC health authorities
  • International Graduate: For recent graduates of eligible BC post-secondary institutions
  • Entry Level and Semi-Skilled (ELSS): For workers in hospitality, food processing, long-haul trucking, and tourism

BC PNP Express Entry BC

All four sub-streams also have an Express Entry BC counterpart. If you have an active Express Entry profile and receive a BC PNP nomination through an Express Entry BC stream, your CRS score receives a 600-point boost, resulting in an ITA at the next federal draw.

How SIRS Scoring Works

Your SIRS score is calculated based on factors including work experience, education, language proficiency, job offer wage, and regional location. Scores range from 0 to approximately 200 points. Use our BC PNP Calculator to estimate your score.

How Often Are BC PNP Draws Held?

BC PNP holds draws approximately every two weeks. Each draw invites candidates above a minimum score threshold. The threshold changes based on the size of the invitation pool and the number of candidates in the system.
